Monotony

Woke up and the sky was gray
Don't know how I already this far this way
Looked out to a dismal world
Don't know how a cry for help could ever be heard
First thing I did was grab a dose of caffeine
Don't know how I ever developed this dependency
And I know there's a million others that are worse than me
And the worst part is some of them think that they're free

And I know all of these problems they're all out of my grasp
And I know any solution it'll never ever last
And I know there's a million others that are just like me
And I know on just about everything we all disagree
But we are all united in one simple thing
Yes we all share in out monotony

Got up put on a t-shirt and jeans
It was a little cold outside so I put on a hoodie
Then I realized I did the same thing yesterday
And I know that tomorrow that I'll probably do the same
And I guess all this repeating is all that's in my fate
Because living in a loop is just my destiny
Went out to grab a breath of fresh air
And it's the last time I'll see the sky today but I don't even care
Because today I'm on paperwork
Just a cog in the machine
Just like a million others and none of us are free

And I know all of these problems they're all out of my grasp
And I know any solution it'll never ever last
And I know there's a million others that are just like me
And I know on just about everything we all disagree
But we are all united in one simple thing
Yes we all share in out monotony

Saw a pretty girl who had a pretty smile
And I felt something deep inside that I hadn't felt in a little while
But I never approached her no I didn't even say hey
And it was justified in my head because I wouldn't have the time anyway
I know from experience it'll always end the same
And I know in the end I'll end up burned by the flame
But if you live in fear of the flame, how can you ever get warm
Can you ever love the calm when you've never known the storm
And can you ever know true love if you've never known true hate
How can anyone appreciate freedom when they've never lived in chains
And if everyone is different doesn't that mean were all the same
Bound by the fetters of monotony
