Shabe Tehran (Tehran Night)
Deleh Shab bood o Tehran Khaneh Khaneh
Hameh dar khaabo o Baaraan dar taraaneh
Hezaaran gol ze shikhe zire ragbar
Zamin oftad o par par shod shabaaneh
Be phoshteh shisheh baaraan raaz mikhaand
Ghamash raa ghatre ghatreh baaz mikhaand
Sahar dar soogeh aan golhaayeh teshne
Che ghamgeen naveedaan avaaz mikhaand
Az een Aatash keh bar jaaneh chaman khord
Goleh omideh maa nashkofteh pajmord
Shodim aan ghatreh baaraani keh paakooft
Bareh khorshid taa bekhayr shod mord
Konoon Tehran Shabash bighorseh maah ast
Ghororash bi sahar, bi sobhgaah ast
Mapor az man shabeh tehran che rang ast
Che gooyam roozegaar shabeh siah ast
It was the heart of night and Tehran house by house
Everyone was asleep, as the rain played it's melody
A thousand flowers from its roods were under fire
The land fell and was destroyed overnight
Outside the glass, the unceasing rain sang
It sang its sadness drop by drop
The Dawn mourned the thirsting flowers
What sadness it would sing its pipe song
From this fire which took the whole land
Our flower of hope withered away
We became the drop of rain that never came
The rise of the sun died before coming out
Till now, Tehran's nights are without the presence of the moon
It's pride has no dawn, no hope
Don't ask me what color is the night of Tehran
What can I say since even its day is Black
Hameh dar khaabo o Baaraan dar taraaneh
Hezaaran gol ze shikhe zire ragbar
Zamin oftad o par par shod shabaaneh
Be phoshteh shisheh baaraan raaz mikhaand
Ghamash raa ghatre ghatreh baaz mikhaand
