Young Poetry

Met you where the warm waves break all year long
And all year long I
Wonder if my own wait is gonna break
And I think of you

Cause I was meant for backroads and mountains
You were headed for shorelines and the bright oceans
Said you didn't know that we were part of God's plan
God's plan

Spread my heart across six continents
Like I wasn't lost enough
Maybe I'm just looking for stability
But I dream of you

In the mornings teaching flowers how to smile
'Cause you bring color to the world
You know you never don't amaze me
But lately I wonder
If I'll ever feel that glow
Anymore

I could jump on a train right now and ride all night
Jumping state lines, sleeping in borrowed cars
Street lights, highways that promise to take me back

Cause I miss you in the cold weather
I feel you in the falling snow
Maybe I'm just looking for stability
But I dream of you

In the mornings teaching flowers how to smile
'Cause you bring color to the world
You know you never don't amaze me
But lately I wonder
If I'll ever feel that glow
Oh won't you love me in the starlight, starlight
The way that only younger poets do
Oh won't you tell me stories
Oh in the dark hours
You make me feel like a child
On the road back home again
