I Once Heard a Cat Bark

I once heard a cat bark
And I said, "You're not a cat!
A cat says meow, a dog says bark
And I say that is that"

The cat curled up beside me
And he let me pet his fur
He said, "We cats say lots of things
We know more than one word
I'm not like other cats you've met
But I am still a cat
Sometimes I slop among the pigs
Or scurry with the rats"

Cats can bark
Dogs can sing
Birds can do most anything
Cats can bark

I once heard a frog moo
And I said, "You're not a frog!
A frog says ribbit, cows go moo
There must be something wrong"

The frog hopped up beside me
And then she went moo again
She said, "I'm very much a frog
I jump, I splash, I swim
Not every frog is like the kind
You read about in books
Our differences make life rich
So take a closer look"

Cats can bark
Sometimes dolphins look like sharks

A pig says oink, a bird goes chirp
If I know anything"

The pig waddled beside me

Express themselves in lots of ways
It's fun when you know how"
