Normalcy

Watched on by the moon and sky
Forgive all my failures
Slap a cool rag on my eyes
Try to forget they hurt
If I beat this last door down
I'll get to the meadow
On my knees and kiss the ground
Every stony pebble

I wish it, I wish it against all my better judgement
For all good spirits to come to me
So that maybe just maybe they'll give me their forbidden knowledge
And I'll use it to fall asleep

Here is the case made for making time
To come back to earth for me
I'm not a creature of outer space
I need the dirt cause it helps me breathe
I need the uncertainty of this life that me and my friends lead
Don't want your ticket to fame and fortune
I want my normalcy
I want my normalcy

I guess maybe you think it's boring that I never go anywhere
But I didn't ask for an opinion
Look, buddy, I've got my reasons
I'm not living just to entertain you

Drink up that sunshine
Quench my thirst this time

Here is the case made for making time
To come back to earth for me
I'm not a creature of outer space
I need the dirt cause it helps me breathe
I need the uncertainty of this life that me and my friends lead
Don't want your ticket to fame and fortune
I want my normalcy
