Mercy

I sit atop this parking garage as town folk meddle about
Most of my young life spent in this place

It's been a few long months since A.K. got shut down
The last coil signed with all their names

My mother found out yesterday she's to find another job
I guess the stock of Mercy is down

I've been looking for a way, an excuse will do just fine
To get out of this God-forsaken town

But it's on the horizon
The change has come to be
The city lights will make a man of me
There ain't nothing in this town
That hasn't been shut down
Or soon to be headed that way
But it all dies in the end, so what's it matter anyway

They used to come in droves, or so I've been told
Way back in the golden days

But all that's left here now is all but burned out
Empty promises were made to break

A new company comes to town, they put a shovel in the ground
And swear to be a savior to our place

And they finally got their funds, doesn't matter where they're from
Another company lie right to our face

But it's on the horizon
The change has come to be
The city lights will make a man of me
There ain't nothing in this town
That hasn't been shut down
Or soon to be headed that way
But it all dies in the end, so what's it matter anyway

I sit atop this parking garage, looking over at Ohio
Lord, I don't want to leave her out to dry

But she's gasping for air and there ain't no air to spare
She'll be gone before the morning light

But it's on the horizon
The change has come to be
The city lights will make a man of me
There ain't nothing in this town
That hasn't been shut down
Or soon to be headed that way
But it all dies in the end, so what's it matter anyway
Yeah it all dies in the end, so what's it matter anyway
