When I get Older

When I was a girl
I put on my fancy shoes
Walk outside, the sunshine greeted me
How do you do?
Put a pill inside my gullet
Wait for its return, I felt it
Pulse around my brain to thumb it will remain
Constantly numb
I'll keep my head held high
Even though I'll be high and dry

Don't wanna wake up in the morning
Sweating all alone
Even when I get old I wanna be grown
Now that I'm older
I put on another face
I can't remember who I was
Someone else has taken my place
Take a different kind of pill
Now things are much better
I can fold myself into a paper kite
And fly away
