Wallflower

I leaned back against the wall like a lampshade
Hands in my pockets, never looking to assimilate
The DJ was bumping some Forest Hills Cole
To a college student that's like an old head to some soul
So as Cole came through the speakers
As I watched some tweakers
I wasn't eager to rush in like a sleeper
At a college party that I don't belong at
Watching a couple dogs chase a couple cats
Overhearing a conversation about some girls rack
I flip my phone out thinking about a new track
I look up, a fight almost breaks out like "New Jack"
I look back down, and type what I see like ooo yeah
This'll be the next track they see on "Who Dat"
I put my phone away to stay and watch the crowds flow degrade
Thinking about my track and how it'll serenade
The midnight driver cruising long upon the highway
I come back from my own thoughts
To watch a beautiful girl run game like she's an Xbox
Quiet in the corner, mind running quick like Florence Joyner
Trying to understand why women want the star and pass the bench warmer
You see a star can fall from grace at anytime
But a bench warmer hasn't reached his full potential shine
So I sit back and watch this beautiful party unfold
Knowing this'll be a great lyrical story once told

Still holding up the wall in my Puma jacket
Black joggers on, with the fade, and the Suede Classics
Looking over the crowd, I see so many smiles
The stress of the classroom gone, well at least for awhile
The burning blunt gives them the idea that they can fly
Soon they'll return to earth, right now they swim the sky
And who but I, the wallflower to verbalize
The beauty of a college night, seeing through my eyes
Yo check it
The DJ still spinnin records, like the Statik Selektah
Preaching music through the speakers when he scratches the lectern
Teaching self control, but speaking without a lecture
Controlling the flow of the room, smooth like a college professor
A crowded dance floor is loving his class this semester
And I, chill in the dark, like a lingering specter
A storyteller, protector serving as a reflector
Of memories equivalent to treasure
On this bizarre adventure

Oh shi

As it was time to go, cause all good nights come to a close
Blue and red lights hit the window and stopped the flow
A couple youngins grabbed some drinks cause it was time to roll
Crowd charging hard to the juke the blue coats
Couple in the closet, some dove out the side window
A quick sprint to the car to dodge five-0
And Jenny giving a quickie to little Ricky
Stumbled out the bathroom, with the heavy smell of liquor pretty filthy
A freshman looking shook, too cooked, the little rookie
Split from the senior who yelled, bring me back some cookies
Laughing to himself because he knows this is routine
When the door swung open and we caught the cool breeze
Course' things heated up when we saw the police
As another kid stumbled just to grab his car keys
Tripping on the chick who was high off Molly
Laying on the floor caught within euphoria prob'ly
