See You Tomorrow

If I don't see you tomorrow
Take my words and keep them
Somewhere safe, somewhere close
Somewhere you know where they'll be

And I'll do the same with yours
Try and remember every word you say
And every look you send my way

I'll keep them near my beating heart
Where every breath will give them life
And help them grow and keep them fed
And help them make it through the night
If we make it through to the other side

I will never take for granted
Trying to maintain a conversation
In a bar, taking turns to shout
In each other's ears

Or shaking hands with a stranger
Coughing without wondering if I'm well
Or seeing food upon the shelves again

Or the boring walk to work
With car exhaust fumes
Where the wind batters my cheeks
And makes me grateful for the air that I can still breathe

At least I can still breathe
At least I can still breathe
At least I can still breathe
At least I can still breathe
