Seeds in the Grass

There's a big old tree
In the front most piece
Of my yard
And I haven't see it
In so many years
But it's my fault
Last thing I recall
It was twice as tall
As I was then
And before all that
Seeds in the grass
From my mother's hands

There's a wooden swing
Still blowin' in the wind
Of my yard
And thanks to that dear tree
I could kick my feet up
To the stars
One day I recall
I had fallen hard
As we do sometimes
Before I reacted
My father snatched me up
Off the ground

"It's gonna be okay"

My roots grow deep
And my leaves reach out
To hold you
But you're far away
I miss those days
When I could hold you

All these memories
Sometimes need a little watering

Just seeds in the grass
Seeds in the grass
Seeds in the grass
Seeds in the grass
