Cynic

Could it be that we are fated
To live as archetypes and die unknown
Instilled with this burden
Through no fault of our own
Forgive these
Transgressions
And let us be taught
To suffer in silence
The unbearable weight
Of a thousand mistakes
To the uninitiated
It would seem no challenge to believe

But shattered minds
Cannot be so easily swayed
And soldiers' eyes
Have witnessed too few joyful days

And knowing all this has no end

Contempt in the face of adversity
Like a world that revolves without gravity
In time it becomes too much to bear

It's not for a lack of effort
That this sentient was born
Through the trials and tribulations
Just like every time before

I see no reason to apologize
For anything that I became
Cause I know you'd feel the same
And I know you'd feel the same
And I know you'd feel the same
I know you'd feel the same

Cynic
