Aftershocks

I dream of earthquakes and sometimes the whole room shakes
I hear you crying
They used to tell me you should stand in the doorframe
To keep from dying
I have a fear of overcast California

My father was a fairly comprehensive road map
He loved the drive
My grandpa Don had his camcorder on
When we arrived
I have a fear of playing tennis in the morning
We lost a ball
I watched it sail over the chainlink fence
I had to save it
They had signs up saying "watch out"
"You could get washed out"
Somehow I made it
I have a fear of the LA River
And all the aftershocks
