Nearly Early Dawn

How strange that you should hear me now when it's nearly early dawn
My mind tied up in memory of a broken summer lawn
You know I prayed for you last night before I saw you in my dreams
And that footage of your father's house; I remember every scene

You were dancing to the scarlet light keeping rhythm with your gaze
In the wild full moon rhymes I thought I heard your sister say

That it was something of a novelty the way the sun fell to the sea
It was new to you maybe, it was not new to me

Your animus was showing in the nearly early dawn
My mind tied up in numbers, and the numbers just went on

And paled in the autumn the smoke was nearly blue
You would not meet my eyes sed tua tremit manus

I passed another night in morose regret
A blackguard I must've seemed, compounded by my debts

Well, how good that you should hear me now in the slanting, morning dawn
My mind made up to this; I've loved you all along

And I have nothing better than to wait on this azure
And wonder if I even knew who you really were
