Apples

Something planted a seed
And the earth grew a tree
Its apples crunched between my teeth
Couldn't pick everyone
And after 10 setting suns
The apples turned to mush beneath my feet
And my mouth still waters
When I think of summer
And the trees seem taller
As fall pulls me under...

To fade away is written in the stars
Bones decay and the cycle restarts

So you worked while you aged
But your soul never gave
Though your hopes swayed
So the standard was set
You were caught in the net
Of worker bees- of slaves
Aren't we all just apples from the apple tree
Hope we're picked up
While we're ripe enough to eat
And may the fallen rest in peace
And good luck to the ones still waiting
