Ruth's Poem

The stage was set
The cue for me
But I missed my line
While the curtain went down

All the world was a stage
And you cast me for your love
But I couldn't play the part
The role wasn't for me

A part that only the unfeeling played
One that needed all you could give
Every moment undivided
Booked every night in your town

I passed the chance
Gave to a prima donna
I played in the chorus
And faded into the backdrop

The plot was involved
Without a dull moment
But there was no time to portray the part
The part that was me

The critics would have loved it
Raved on and on of you
With me standing in the wings
Waiting on my curtain call

But I made the exit
I vanished before the prologue
The show went on
While I sat watching

Yes, the stage was set
Your cue was for me
But I missed my line
While the curtain went down
While the curtain went down
While the curtain went down

While the curtain went down (While the curtain went down)
While the curtain went down (While the curtain went down)
While the curtain went down (While the curtain went down)
While the curtain went down (While the cu)
