The Long Farewell

The first time that I was hit by a car
They took me to the hospital in an ambulance
They thought that maybe I had a brain bleed
All I could do was sit there laughing
That probably didn't help it
It was fine, they stitched me up
And Kane later took them out

Let's go away for awhile
It's a nice thought but most of us don't go away
I've forgotten more than you'll ever know
This is the long farewell

It's freezing here this December time
I wish that I could cross the equator line
Like my brothers did
And the others did
I stayed here landlocked and bedbound
The longer nights and the screaming sounds
But it's better now
My girl is growing and she makes me proud

Let's go away for a while
It's a nice thought but most of us don't go away
I've forgotten more than you'll ever know
This is the long farewell
