American Strings

Found myself inside a scene
Of a play they were staging
All around me hearts were breaking
To the sound of American Strings

I went out into the street
A parade there for a king
All around me stars exploding
To the sound of American Strings

While I was sitting here I wrote a letter to a queen, as I recall,
She was so beautiful
I put it down in the best words I could write
The morning light was breaking through
I put my name on it and left it with a gift
And followed her to see what she would do

Followed her into the market
Never knew there were so many things
Puppets, banners, whole worlds hanging
A -h on American Strings

All hung on American Strings

Ah ah ah aheeah ah
