Half Asleep

Voices jump at me through crowds
The water's too cold, tv too loud
Is it just give and take
Like life on the edge or driving without breaks
I am either half-asleep
Or the rest of the world is not listening

Breathing seems overrated these days
Lies are necessary but too hard to face
Unless of course you want the truth in your face
Also known as the end of history of our trade
Or walking half-asleep
Through a world that is half-awake

You hear stories among stories
Your friends are bragging about things
Which make you wanna strangle them
But all they want is to murder the silence
Which holds too much weight anyway
For those that lie half-awake
In a world that is half-asleep

Belief can be a terrible world
Like faith and love and peace and god
Some dare to actually think
That they have it all figured out
I laugh at them like a kid at a clown
It's all over now
Means that I'm only just beginning
To snap out of this half-sleep
These half-dreams
These half-memories
