Letter to Sephine

Today the world came to an end
And all our loved ones and our friends
Were burned to ash, no one to save
Nothing could stop the death parade

Cities were leveled, in disarray
The towns wiped clean, the price to pay
For meddling in nature's laws
Was flesh ripped by nature's claws

Survivors could only stand and stare
As the fire and smoke choked the air
As the bodies burned, screams and cries
Through streets littered with those who died

I thought of you and how you left
Destroyed our future in one quick breath
And I hoped that you were among the dead
Choking on words that you once said

Today our world came to an end
And all of my guilt surfaced again
As I sit in silence, my head in my hands
Staring at blood on my fingers again

You opened questions about my lies
You ripped my apart with your sobs and cries
And I stared in hate at who I betrayed
Who I tormented for thousands of days

And I wish the skies would open wide
And suck up my body, take my life
Wound my soul and destroy my heart
And end the pain, keep us apart

Only I survived, one of the lucky ones
As I witnessed my world turning to dust
As I remembered the lies, the guilt, the sin
And I knew in my heart I would hurt you again
