Interlude/Eulogy

As far back as I can remember, Dad was my hero
Everything I know about life, I learned from him
And I wanted to share the ten most important lessons with you today
Number one, the importance of reading
Number two, the necessity of cultivating one's own intelligence
And of inspiring it within others
Number three, the importance of being a good friend
And fostering meaningful, long lasting relationships with other good people
Number four, the importance of laughter and having fun
Number five, the importance of standing up for what is right
And fiercely protecting what you believe in
Number six, the importance of being unrelentingly kind
Even and especially when it is undeserved
Forgiving, tolerant, and understanding of others
Regardless of their age, race, background, status, or faith
Number seven, the importance of being fair and just
And the importance of protecting democracy
Number eight, to always explore, dream, and wonder without abandon
Number nine, to never, ever, ever give up. Ever. No matter what
And finally
