Words

Look at that girl, spends all her time reading
She's already starting to imagine
Many worlds full of fantasy
And the teachers are telling her mother
"Ma'am, your daughter's gonna be a writer
We asked one page, and she wrote nine"
So many stories in her mind

Look at that girl, life has taken a turn
She feels grown, yet has so much to learn
She's got other reasons to write
She needs to talk about her new turmoil
She stopped speaking, so she writes it all
The butterflies and the sorrow
The words stay there and off she goes

Look at that girl, she has changed so much
Her friend came back and then left in a rush
She never knew it'd bring her pain
She tries to write like she has always done
It doesn't work, what is it she does wrong?
She makes sense of her brain's new ways
It doesn't drive the grief away

Look at that girl, how long's she been unheard?
She has found other ways to write these words
But it only stays a "what if?"
And she writes about other characters
Says she doesn't have a story of hers
But the words are what's driving her
Got a way to make her voice heard
