Redemption Bay

My visitor, stand silent at the edge of Redemption Bay
One moment of strangeness has reduced my creations to clay
Open is a quick escape to sea
But right here I'm going to be
At least till the end of your stay

For my stage death a will is read
And I exit to scattered mixed blessings
To my doubting twin I leave a brick wall
To the dreamer, another life sentence
I've gone quiet as the water's still, but not for feeling ill
I'm only noiseless, voiceless, choiceless in your presence

My visitor, stand silent at the edge of Redemption Bay
One moment of strangeness has reduced my creations to clay
Open is a quick escape to sea
But right here I'm going to be
At least till the end of your stay

Except for the scent of my lifeline
Not a clue's to be had of our meeting
Without adherent or pen I cannot be sworn
Or be misleading
All my wants like all my fears once touched just disappeared
And up to now I always thought them worth believing

My visitor, stand silent at the edge of Redemption Bay
Now it all rushes towards me and I can't move away
Was it all planned to come to this or just some random hit or miss
That brought us both together here today

At only arms length is sweet union
I'd heard of its tendency to exist
Now, with the chance of fulfillment
My ingraining still says to resist
But I'm staying to be both confronted and disarmed
Left to face life's naked charms
And this time I promise I won't keep my distance

My visitor, stand silent at the edge of Redemption Bay
Let this moment of strangeness reduce my creations to clay
Open is a quick escape to sea
But right here is where I'll be
At least till the end of your stay
