Wyoming Snow
Wyoming snow was blowin' not much highway still showin'
And my fuel gauge was rinding on "E"
In the gathering night saw a gas sign and a light
Forty miles somewhere up north of Laramie
I pulled off and went in a two pump store of rusty tin
And the clerk gave a howdy to me
In the back cowboys were jawin' round a wood stove while thawin'
And I heard one tellin' his philosophy
And he said
There are givers and takers menders and breakers
Winners and losers they say
Quiters and hopers some prudes and some jokers
Haters and lovers you see
Then he went on
There are doers and talkers stickers and walkers
Dreamers and skeptics there be
Livers and diers laughers and criers
And all kinds of folks in between
Then he asked
But what do we all have in common
Things in this life we all need
Like someone to love us faith in God above us
And a soul that just has to be free
Zipped my coat back up real tight filled my tank drove out of sight
But the cowboy's words lingered with me
As the snow filled my headlights thought of how much that he was right
And how much truth there was in his philosophy
But what do we all have in common
Things in this life we all need
Like someone to love us faith in God above us
And a soul that just has to be free
So I drove on through the night thinking how that he was right
And how much truth there was in his philosophy
And my fuel gauge was rinding on "E"
In the gathering night saw a gas sign and a light
Forty miles somewhere up north of Laramie
I pulled off and went in a two pump store of rusty tin
And the clerk gave a howdy to me
