Walden

All in all I still believe
That Marx is wrong but I still see
The harm that's caused by corporate greed
It commodifies us
I'll find my own Walden
So far removed
From that all familiar ruse

It was winter and my friends were all inside
We didn't go to sleep that night
I was with her, writing poems to pass the time
Soused head and sunken eyes

I said "oh, I forgot my thought
Let's just talk
I've got you
It's only 2 o'clock
By God, let's just talk
Let's just talk"

Her thesis is actually a prayer
But she's unaware
She read it to the crowd of friends sat there
Buried heads and blank stares

Then she said "oh, I forgot my thought
Let's just talk
I've got you
It's only 2 o'clock
By God, let's just talk
Let's just talk"

She left to get a drink
And came back with a tambourine
So I pulled out a C harmonica
I found my own Walden
So far removed
In that all familiar tune
