She Knows

Lightning flashed, thunder crashed, she chased the boy in me
Ran too fast, fell and skinned my knee
I took a few wrong turns, found myself too far from home
Looking in her eyes, I think she knows

I never check my temperature, she gives me fevered dreams
Felt a chill, when I thought she might leave
I've reached out, to touch her hair in the middle of the night

She, needs to be free
She's not asking much of me
And I think she knows
She knows

An early dawn I try to rise, push her from my head
I've written things I know I should have said
She's been up a while, put the coffee on

She makes me sing
Opens my heart to everything
And I think she knows
She knows

At evening's close, skies of gold, colours changing hue
Eyes that shine for me belong to you
I've never said how I feel in so many words
But when we kiss, I think she knows

She needs to be free
When I close my eyes she's all I see
And I think she knows
She knows

Listen to the wind, gentle summer rain
I've never spoke of love
I think she knows
