when things started to change
into the hood
came the gangsters and crack cocaine
i saw some good friends
hooked up on crystal meth
that could've been me
the headline
prison or dead
it was a rough time
but i made it somehow

before i met her
never thought i'd have
more than a pot to piss in

she holds me together
helps me conquer fears
and i'm still a bit surprised
that i made it here... but i like it

from where i was back then
