Into the Pines

I hear it falling with the rain, feel it wash over me again
It's a natural fact that we all know
And in the silence when she speaks, I can hear them call for me
I'll stay and let the cold wind blow
My shadow grows, begins to devour, it's leaving here in less than an hour
But I'll remain centered at my home

Walk along the streets at night
Gaze upon the stars that shine
Take your hand and you'll take mine
Vanish out into the pines

I can hear it in the back, gearing up for another attack
If I can keep it down, out it drowns
Watch it caress across the sky, until it falls and slips inside
Caught when it comes down, saving face
Out in the open a glow can be seen, question what all of your words mean
To speak them aloud, calms it down

It comes to me within reach
I see the future and it's looking bleak
