Thinking Out Loud
Uh Listen To Me
We all know that you right and I'm wrong
We all know I don't show feelings less I'm writing songs
We all know they love the streets when's it's a ride along
We all know the real feeling when you all alone
Get out the hood are conversations I have on a daily
With the man in the mirror, I tell him you gon make it
I don't really say my goals out loud cuz it's gon seem like I'm exaggerating
And they might think I'm playing
If I want it imma get it, it's no contemplation
4th grade cross country, won't forget it was the first time and last time I got a ribbon for participation
I know it's running but that's not what I was chasing
Still chasing but that ribbon title started changing
How can you hate a kid that knew he was destined for greatness
I would rather not be tough instead of trynna fake it, but I see we don't agree by the looks on ya faces
Thinking to myself like what's the recipe to be me?
What did my parents do right to make me care bout everybody
But not care even a little about how they see me?
How he grow up in the hood
And he still hood but he did it without smoking and drinking?
How his big homies and role models ain't graduate but we still gotta college degree him?
Ok now I'm thinking
How he get paid for meet and greets and still he meet and greet for free cuz they breathe how he breathing?
Why he'll use his own shirt to clean your blood to not even notice he the one that's bleeding?
Why in the 5th grade, I found out that my homie couldn't read and I became a teacher?
Uh I know he ain't got a daddy and his mom from out the country but he here for a reason
How I grow up making excuses every sunday to skip church but the biggest believer?
I talk to God everyday it's a relationship, but everybody see it different
It's plenty sides to 1 story but the only goal is the the message intended
Uh and the goalie is the devil trynna keep you and everyone with you from kicking
Uh uh trynna keep you from kicking
Uh trust yo intuition
Uh he can't grant yo wishes
Uh uh trust me and just listen listen
We all know that you right and I'm wrong
We all know I don't show feelings less I'm writing songs
We all know they love the streets when's it's a ride along
