There Was A Time

Here I am
I'm in the dark
I've been here for awhile
I've read a book or two
About me and you
These journal entries
Haunting me

There was a time life was brighter
I had the world and I had you to hold
We were both laughing
Living so carefree
Carving names in trees

But now I'm here
I'm in the dark
And I can't see anything
And here is where you left me
Without saying goodbye

There was a time we went running
And I ran as fast I could
Tripping you caught me
Crying you fought for me
Ignoring scraped knees

I know you've been gone
And you're never coming back
I know I've been scared
But the past is in the past
Out of the darkness ill rise above it all
This time is my time I am out of the dark

There was a time I moved on
I realized the world had more to hold
There's someone out there
Who loves me
Now on a bended knee
