American Dream

Man my whole life been like a camel's back
With the ups and downs, I'm just trying to get to the neck
From the pours to the riches the American dream
Just a kid from Africa trying to be the elite
Never really had a man to show me how it should be
So I learnt everything straight out the TV
And I've really gotta say, Thank you Terry Crews
Even though you hated Chris you taught me how not to lose, damn
I remember playing soccer in a size 9
And I was only 11 years so I had to hide
Put the soccer boots on right before the game
So nobody got to see or got to call me lame
From a young age, I learnt to stay in my lane
Cause these niggas always talk don't let 'em turn you insane
And I really was soft maybe I was just kind
Cause every small thing, I felt I needed to cry

But now that's all changed, and I can't stay the same
Through the trials and tribulations man I had to change
I made some new friends, but they ain't new friends now
We just walk past each other like a blind man does
I got with girls and I thought that it would last forever
But now I'm 18, and I think imma die alone
I used to cry over this, but now no more tears
And even when I try nothing ever really comes out
I had a dream of being great maybe FIFA final
Now that's all changed cause I'm trying to see a Grammy
And 'fore my granny dies, I gotta make her happy
Buy a house with some land for when I get some babies
Had a dream of a better life
Where I was really really happy with no fake smiles
But I live a nightmare almost everyday
Where everybody is the devil trying to get me down
