A Flower in the Fray

We came over land,
Crossing the rivers north and east,
A joining of hands across bridges,
They hung in the breach.

Boots in the dawn,
The grey of the sky gave way to blue.
Thousands had fallen,
Like thunder in tremors of dew.

On and on, the flower grows in dedication
On and on, hearts in common liberation
Bodies restless, hear them calling from the fields
The battles sleepless, winter hunger never yields.
A flower in the fray, let summer ever bloom.

History binds human kinship across borders.
Giving in kind invokes a purpose
We're destined to prove.

Let this be our fate,
To give into love and be its order,
Making each day,
Monuments to flowers of truth.

On and on, the flower grows in dedication
On and on, hearts in common liberation
Bodies restless, hear them calling from the fields
The battles sleepless, winter hunger never yields.
A flower in the fray, let summer ever bloom.
