Have you ever heard the rain outside your door?
Then felt it deep inside your wretched soul?
Have you ever wished the walls would crumble upon you?
Bury you in shattered tiles and possessions you pinned your happiness to
Over the years, tears and frozen little fears
That thawed and trickled inside the skin
Where mould has grown and decimated
Everything that was once was great and now
You can't even look yourself without wanting to escape yourself

Here's to the power of denial

Deny that you have fatal flaws
Deny that you have lost it all
Went over, the edge, it's so far gone
Deny you have the final straw
Deny that fate has a role at all
To play, in the final act, free will finale

Have you ever closed the blinds to shield the sun?
A rationale, that you'd just burn, as its golden arms tried to comfort you
Have you ever wished the older you could travel back in time?
Cause you'd be certain to heed the warnings, and reap the benefits of a wiser mind
Or would you just do it all the same?
Climb to heights, extending wings you don't have to soar across the plains
Spluttering and falling - well at least it wasn't boring
It's what you'd say on a death bed surrounded by those versions of you

Who utilised that time machine - to see the sorry sight of solitary
