Letter

I'm sitting in the sunshine
Seven hours before my bedtime
And I'm wondering how to fill the day with you
When I've barely half an afternoon's remembering to do

You may expect to and froing
When you've only months of knowing
How your name sounds in the mouth of someone else
Having just slipped from rotation in the mouth it knew so well

And I'm staring at your letter, wrapped in paper to sustain
The very planet I was planning to destroy
You're a very lovely subject
For a very lonely boy

And I'm living incompletely
In a city that won't see me
And I pass the time in company pretend
And I'm feeling ill at easy
With my best and oldest friend

Still I'm sitting in the sunshine
Seven hours before my bedtime
And two dozen 'til tomorrow afternoon
And the time moves very slowly and your eyes are very blue
In my barely-half-an-afternoon
Rememberings of you

And I'm staring at your letter and it kind of bowled me over
When you told me you were into going slow
I'm emotionally reckless and I thought you ought to know
