You're Not Coming Home Anymore

I look at your comb and see strands of your hair
The scent of your perfume caresses the air
A letter arrives here that you'll never read
I empty the closets of things you won't need
And I look at the hats and the clothes that you wore
But you're not coming home anymore

I peel back the years, unveiling the night
When nothing was dark in the glow of G-d's light
I stand in the dark and it feels like you're near
I dance by myself and pretend that you're here
And I just can't believe as I stare at the door
That you're not coming home anymore

Oh and I didn't think that I could hurt this much
But I swear that I'd kill just to feel your sweet touch
And I pull up the blankets; I pull them up high
Then I hold myself and then I start to cry
And I think of the things that we did before
But you're not coming home anymore
No you're not coming home anymore
