Introspective
Introspective
Shine a light inwards for a different perspective
Just trying to figure out what my place in this mess is
So I can leave it better once I've finally left it
We're living life in the strangest of times
Feels like two steps forward but three steps behind
Compassion and empathy are short in supply
But the demand has never ever been this high
Now I'm taking time to consider my complicity
How much of this problem starts from inside of me
Am I failing myself or hurting society
As bad as those I blame for all the insanity
In hushed tones I've spoken words I can't stand behind
At times I've stifled voices that were different than mine
I may never agree but I gotta keep an open mind
Instead of shutting down dialogue and polarizing sides
As we bust through the roadblocks and shatter the ceiling
For the haves, having less is a hard kind of feeling
Doesn't justify hate even if they've been reeling
Pushing pain ain't the way, we all need to push healing
So I'm introspective
Shine a light inwards for a different perspective
Just trying to figure out what my place in this mess is
So I can leave it better once I've finally left it
I'm introspective

As we bust through the roadblocks and shatter the ceiling
For the haves, having less is a hard kind of feeling
Doesn't justify hate even if they've been reeling
Pushing pain ain't the way, we all need to push healing
So I'm introspective
Shine a light inwards for a different perspective
Just trying to figure out what my place in this mess is
So I can leave it better once I've finally left it
I'm introspective
