To An End

A chapter ends in the book of the extant
The pages turn once more
A soul ends with a dot of the pen
The ink still settles in
Why bother trying to outrun the story
Its ours in the end

Torn pages tossed aside litter the floor below
Discarded jottings of a fate that could have been.
But even the author's chapter in time must end

Letters of ink in a line
A life bound in text by these words and letters
And a will that isn't mine
The pages of fate turn chapters again
Now its time for mine story to end

Torn pages tossed aside litter the floor below
Discarded jottings of wasted potential
But even the author's story must come to a close

Living pages of black and white paint a world so full of radiance
But all stories must have an end
I guess I'm happy just to have been penned
