Ugly Pauses & Comfortable Silence

Silence often gives complicated answers
It gives more than words, they say,
but is it really true?

Silence will force you to make
a guess, a prediction
It will make you read signs
as you prepare yourself for the worst-case

This would make sense for a while,
but, only to your ego, right?

So, instead of predicting the meaning of your silence
why don't I sit down here,
admitting that I am not a mind-reader,
and wait for you
while you take your time to make sure
how you genuinely feel,
arranging your best words for me

I don't believe you would sugarcoat anything,
but you picked your words carefully,
for you think I deserve it,
and that's how I know that my feelings mattered to you

Thank you, for thinking about me

And when you're ready to tell me,
I will listen, 'cause that's the truth
and if I still hear the worst,
I will still accept, 'cause this is our condition

and hearing my silence
you will give me all the time that I need

So, instead of predicting the meaning of my silence
why don't you sit down here,
admitting that you are not a mind-reader,
and wait for me
while I take my time to make sure
how I genuinely feel,
arranging my best words for you

Because I understand your capacity,
and your ability
so I'll carefully, arrange my sentences,
to tell my truth,
I learned that as I know you,
and you'd say "Thank you, for thinking about me."
