The Crossing

Something clouds my mind
Something cuts me deep down inside
Something sparks my rage
The same old lines, page after page

And we laugh and we cry
And we hold those closest to us in the night
And we sing and we dance
But too many souls, they won't get the chance

Why can't we all see?
They're just the same as you and me
We said never again
Yet here we are, with us versus them

Once we loved and we cared
And we opened our arms to the hurt and the scared
Now we scorn and despise
Out of needless fear for our own very lives

Where we're born is just luck
So they risk their lives on the back of a truck
Now we must co-exist
And we have to be better than this
