Between The Shadows - Introduction
The piece of music which became Between the Shadows
Had a working title called, The Persian Melody
Although I'm not so sure how much Persian is really in it
I'm reminded, in looking back at my notes now, of how pieces evolve
Sometimes with imagery, sometimes with cultural intent
I recall wanting to come up with an instrumental piece
Which would have some Eastern element to it
And which would stand in contrast with the others on the recording
We explored different textures which would complement the harp
And landed on the arrangement one hears on the recording
It was fun stitching together the unlikely combinations of instruments on this piece
And seeing what we'd come up with
Had a working title called, The Persian Melody
Although I'm not so sure how much Persian is really in it
I'm reminded, in looking back at my notes now, of how pieces evolve
Sometimes with imagery, sometimes with cultural intent
I recall wanting to come up with an instrumental piece
Which would have some Eastern element to it
And which would stand in contrast with the others on the recording
We explored different textures which would complement the harp
And landed on the arrangement one hears on the recording
It was fun stitching together the unlikely combinations of instruments on this piece
And seeing what we'd come up with
