Lemon Tree

Lemon tree scent's all over me
Intoxicating, nectar drunk, I fell asleep
You colour in my dreams
With broad brush strokes of a memory

We were keeping busy growing trees
While the whole world went to seed
Though we're all grown up, it still seems so new

With my eyes wide open, I can see through the trees
And I know now you will be waiting for me
When the world stops turning, sun stops burning
Meet me under the lemon tree

Yellow breeze cuts about me, bitter and sweet
And I can almost taste the way you used to make mojito is
On that stormy northern beach

Lately, round here is been feeling kinder empty
Like the last blank page of my favourite poetry book
You gave to me

When the world stop turning and the Sun starts burning
Meet me, meet me under the lemon tree
Come find me where you know I'll be

With my eyes wide open
I know now you'll be waiting for me
When the sun is no longer burning
Meet me under the lemon tree
