We moved from Utah to Texas
Through North Carolina
And I know that that sounds crazy
And that's just the way it felt

The miles and hours
All tell a story
That the road that we were travelin'
Wasn't only in a car

I took a job and
Drove cross country
Never really knowin'
It would mean two months far apart

And when you finally joined me
We came to realize
Our journey wasn't over
It just barely begun

And so we started all over
Drivin' and prayin'
The dream that we were chasin'
Was somewhere just ahead

Forged through fire
We thought that we were broken
Instead we grew more strong

In this life there's so little that we know
But now it seems we know exactly where to go

I remember children getting older
Dragged across the country
Sleeping on the floor

Losing hope with the weather growing colder
Wake me up when it's over
I'm prayin' that it's soon

Two years five schools
All while we wish for
A place that feels like home
And nothing else more

And through the darkness
There comes the twilight
And we can see the beauty of a sunrise
