Hopeful

This could be the end of the world as we know it
But as for me I'm staying hopeful
In 2012 they said YOLO
But I'm not planning on going

I know you're scared right now
And think this might be the end
The sun is covered by storm clouds
And you can't see around that bend
Thinking why's this bad allowed
Why's this happening again
I don't have it figured out
But here this my friend

This life is not our own
But we can make our own choices
This world is unpredictable
But we still have our voices
We can let the fear take hold
An even worse virus
Or spread a message of hope
We can try to survive this

We're alive on borrowed time
So why should this surprise us
The fear falls and rises
At times it can divide us
It tries to creep inside us
And fill our heads with lies
But why's the time it arises
Always in the calm and silence

We need to wake up people
These things happen every day
The good, the bad, the ugly
It repeats it's all the same
This is just the next attempt
To put something in the way
Of your peace, love and joy
And to try to make you cave

To the pressures
Of this cold and heartless world
We can't let it steal what good is left
Surrender's strain can't be heard
I won't deny the fact
This is scary and sad
It's a dangerous world out there
Unpredictable and mad

But if you take a deep breath
And you close your eyes
Live in the moment
And be thankful you're alive
Cause some people live thinking
This could be their last day
Little do you realize
That for you it's just the same

Cause this life's no guarantee
As I'm sure you've seen
One day here then gone
And time is the enemy
What once was
Will never be
And that which will
We might never see

Do you hear what I'm trying to say
We can't control our situations
But we can control our attitudes and our outlooks
On whatever we're going through
I don't know what's gonna happen
And neither do you
But I still have a hope
That even if my time here is up
I will be called home to a place without sickness or fear
I know this world is not my home

So stay home if you're sick
And keep your house clean
And wash your hands before you eat
Live each day like it was your last
