The Meaning You Give It

We use pain and tragedy
to tell the story of our lives
The struggle's more a part of us
than we've ever realized
When we don't have what we need
we look inside and find some persistence

Your Limbic system creating heaven and hell
Does enduring the bad times create the worth of self?
Some might say suffering is what we're meant to do
Do we really need it? Is pain the source of value?

As soon as we get relief from it
we run to find something new
To obsess over and find meaning in
cause that's what humans do
Maybe suffering is like breathing
where you go there it is
til we're more than human
and find a hedonistic imperative
