Kelpie Queen

Every day like clockwork the king
Leaves an offering for his kelpie queen
Flowers and kisses plated in gold
Her smile never gets old

She takes his hand and she's warm
But in her eyes is an ocean storm
He's scared of the day that his gifts won't be enough
So he gives more and more

If she could only speak she'd say
Thank you for the gifts, but take them away
I have nothing to offer in return
I'm paper-thin and I'm about to burn

He gives her a veil to smother the flame
She accepts the smoke, she takes the blame
She's scared he'll break like porcelain

So every day like clockwork
The kelpie queen welcomes the porcelain king
In an embrace, still smoldering
They're smoldering, they're smoldering
They're smoldering out

Leave an offering for the kelpie queen
