Tears of My Own

Picked up my mail today, and lying in between the bills
Was a pink envelope it smelled of perfume that gave me the chills
No return address, but I know the girl this letter came from
Cause written by my address was, you're still the only one

I sat down on the curb, took my pocket knife and opened the seal
The face of the card said, this is how I truly feel
When I opened it up, the only word written was, dear
And the rest of the card only had the stains of her tears

Oh why did I ever let her go
This woman breathed the very life in me
I realize I still love her so
What made me ever think I wanted to be free
I see the postmark says, New Orleans
I've got to find her bring my baby back home
Cause now this tear-stained card I hold
Is wet with tears of my own

Pulled out my mobile phone and tapped a people locator app
Said a little prayer that her contact info came back
When her number appeared, I called not knowing what I would say
But when she answered her phone, I heard my words come out this way

Oh why did I ever let you go
You breathe the very life in me
I realize I still love you so
What made me ever think I wanted to be free
I saw the postmark said, New Orleans
Now that I found you, honey, come back home
Because the tear-stained card you sent
Is wet with tears of my own
And now my tears are tears of joy
My baby's coming back home
And now my tears are tears of joy
My baby's coming back home
