The Writer

I am but a writer and I have something to state
Not much of a fighter though I love a good debate
Can't be bothered to leave the house on any given day
For I am but a writer and that's the writer's way

I am but a writer so writing 's what I do
I'm not at all much brighter but my no one's got a clue
And drama makes my world go 'round though you'll never see me cry
For I am but a writer and they only ever sigh

I won't write about love, it's a cruel and viscous game
I've tried to play it once before and it just drove me insane
Instead I will write happily, my third autobiography
On loneliness, anxiety and other types of misery
Because that's what people read

I am but a writer and you are a great friend
But since we've gotten tighter you surely understand
That even though I kind of like you and I think you're quite okay
I'm twice as smart as you are so friends we cannot stay

Let us both go our own way because friends we cannot stay

Don't try to deny it, we both know that it's true
I wish that I could help right now but there ain't much I can do
So don't ever try to call me, but if you find the time

Switch on your radio
Switch on your radio
Switch on your radio
And read a book of mine
