Owls

Many cultures see owls as a sign of death
Often they're killed based on these beliefs
Death would come after an owl spoke their name
In Navajo stories

They have powerful talons to help kill prey
Which they will often crush to death
They swallow food whole and regurgitate bits
They can't digest

With special feathers they break
Turbulence into smaller currents
As highly stealthy hunters
When they fly they're almost silent

They can turn their necks 135
Degrees in either direction
Without cutting off blood to their brain due to
Blood pooling systems

There are more than 220
Species of owl that are all different
Groups of owls are known to be called a parliament

Owls have tubular eyes that
Are fixed with sclerotic rings in place
They have to turn their heads to
See but can spot prey far away

Up close everything becomes blurry
They depend on feeling food
With feathers on their beaks and feet

When owls prefers to hunt is
Indicated by their eye colour
Yellow's day dark's night while
Orange eyes are crepuscular

They have three eyelids, ones used for sleep
Ones for blinking, the other
One's used to keep their eyes healthy and clean
