Invincible Summer

Summer ends
Spring leaves to follow
The colors of autumn coat my skin
Apple cider grin
Drinking in a brisk weather
Lips savor the fleeting taste

As comfort goes south
Familiarity settles
An ember of warmth glows
Within my palm (Within my palm)
Hold it to my chest
To see me through
Assuring that you will
Join in the embrace

Icicles form
I find my reflection within
Not withstanding the thaw
As seasons ebb and flow
Before the patterns shift
To lock in their steps

"In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer
And that makes me happy
For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me
Within me, there's something stronger - something better, pushing right back"

Winter holds firm
9 months of cold up in Maine
You'll come for the summer
To leave when the air find its chill
Though my senses will some day dull
The warmth I wear never will

As comfort goes south
Familiarity settles
An ember of warmth glows
Within my palm
Hold it to my chest
To see me through
Assuring that you will
Join in the embrace

Nipping at your nose
Jack Frost
With his devilish grin
Chills the atmosphere
Carving out the distance
Between a snowflake
And the childlike glint in your eye

I'll wait for you
At the start of season's end
Find me there
In the blossom of morning glory
