Invincible Summer

Summer ends
Spring leaves to follow
The colors of autumn coat my skin
Apple cider grin
Drinking in a brisk weather
Lips savor the fleeting taste

As comfort goes south
Familiarity settles
An ember of warmth glows
Within my palm (Within my palm)
Hold it to my chest
To see me through
Assuring that you will
Join in the embrace

Icicles form
I find my reflection within
Not withstanding the thaw
As seasons ebb and flow
Before the patterns shift
To lock in their steps

9 months of cold up in Maine
