Mimesis

Heavy rain is falling in my face and now
I doubt that lives we are living are even worth the while
And all the things around us that
We have seen with our human eyes are dead

They are mere illusions, move in the air
And disappear
When we awake from our dreams
Stepping outside, floating upstream

Streets are loud, children run around
People rush to work, the crowds are moving in both directions
I do feel at odds with
All the figures enveloping me right now

They are mere illusions, move in the air
And disappear
When we ignore the rules they impose
Turning against

Now I try to lift veil that hides
The image of the side
Where life is real and I can feel
Depression, doubt and joy
I hope to find a world of better kind for us

But we are in love with fruitless hopes
Looking above our own world
Closing our eyes
Trying to be someone we're not
