Emerald Loom (Take One)
Love is so harmless
That even a bug in the ground
Won't let you down
Once you have found the key
To unlock some mystery
That lives behind
A river in the new school yard
You see, a river is just a dream
And conscience is such a big word indeed
Trickling into the cellar door
Are the echoes of timely drops of rain
Imaginary planes that became balloons
A little too soon
Sidewalks have no ends
But there's a pretend road
In the street
Where everyone you meet
Gathers to find
Breadcrumbs
That lead into the wood
Won't you come lay with me?
There is no such thing as being too much in love
Flowers bloom from our bed of happiness
Here we are and all my love to you
Come gather here, little ones
I shall tell you a story
To usher you off into the night
Your parents are very busy
Preparing for the day ahead
Tomorrow they will have to work
While you are out, and off
Playing at school
My story is called Emerald Loom
Its place and time are uncertain
But what is known
Is that the boy, and the girl
Were very much in love
However, there was a darkness in the night
Oh, my child, don't worry
Everything will be alright
For it's just a story
And even ones that frighten you a bit
Cannot hurt you
A long time ago, in a city far away
Or perhaps in your very own backyard
Two children escaped to the grassy fields
There they saw all kinds of wonderful and marvelous things
So many things in fact
That they believed they could grow wings
Have you ever wondered why children don't have wings?
It's because they do
I have something to share with you
This is my Emerald Loom
It spins the most beautiful threads
Caught from the highest tree
So much higher than you or than me
When I was a child
I went climbing in this tree
That's something that only older children can do
So, listen to your parents
When they tell you to come down
Mum and Pa know best
Don't you ever forget that
Some other children were on the ground
Playing mean tricks, as such children always do
They don't know and they don't have a clue
What the Emerald Loom can do
So, there I was, high in the tree
While the others were down there laughing at me
I found a hole inside the tree
And an angel stared right back at me
We were both so very confused
Because angels don't know what to do
In the darkness gathered all around
At the playground
In fair Verona is where our scene is set
At last! Or did you nearly forget?
There were three daughters
Most innocent and pure
But a cave called to them
A cave of darkness and of fear
I have been through this cave
And can assure you that no harm will come
From a little midnight stroll
Down into the old one
Images will project
The mirrors shall reflect
Your mind's troubled by everything it sees
But just like life itself, this is only a dream
Our future selves resemble us
But we are not like them
In fact, we don't even exist at all
Call it a magic trick
Call it what you will
Something haunts me still after all these years
And that is how I know
That one day I will die
Because my face was only a mask
A Clevenger disguise
Juliet, where are you now?
I know you're here
But I can't see you
Come out of the woodwork
Surely you recognize me
Surely your eyes can see
And your heart remains so true
I love you
I always have and I always will
Sweet Lily, I miss you
Come find me
I'll always be waiting for you...
When I was a boy, a little girl gave me a box
Crimson and pearl
She, did not have golden locks
Like yours Guinevere
Can't you hear me calling to you now?
Just listen to the song
Do you remember when I wrote it for you?
Whatcha gonna do, right?
Times have changed
You're with someone
I am too
And my heart shall always remain
In those golden days and nights
But there is something I have to say to you
I love another too
She's a dragon
She's a clover
And my heart grows stronger with her near
I fear, that in fact I was mistaken
Her name is Rosaline
Silence is all I can say
For why does the heart betray
The truth of me and you?
There's nothing we can do
Silence, my love
My heart remains true
You know I'll always be true
Parting doth make such sweet sorrow...
I don't know what to say
The emerald loom
It's just an experience
For me and you
The audience
Full of all kinds
Stay tuned
For what come next
Is all that I can do
Time is running out
I don't want to have to go
Can you take me to the show?
How can I be found when I don't know up from down?
Deep in this rabbit hole
In Tulgey Wood
You may not understand
But your parents would
And someday you will too
The magnificence and wonder
Everything, is to be discovered
Innocent, and true
Don't be fooled by the disguises
I believe in you
That even a bug in the ground
Won't let you down
Once you have found the key
To unlock some mystery
That lives behind
